The clock strikes twelve. A scream is heard from the distance.
The need for your presence out in the field is still undetermined. Yet, here you are.
In the dark, sparse beams of moonlight penetrate through the barn doors. Outside, moonlight reflects off the grass, irradiating it in the slightest. The purple sky above, calm. Echoes of boots shuffling in the distance slowly disturb the stillness.
You sit by the hay bales near the shed, watching the chaos unfold. Supplies strewn across the ground. Soldiers yelling. Orders and battle cries add to the sound of the gunfire. Confusion all around, yet the war continues.
“Is is just?”, you ask. “Is it necessary?”
It is a question best answered in daylight.
